A recent article in the Tuesday, October 18th edition of the Regina LeaderPost indicated that one of the hot, new fashion trends is the prep-school look. Another way to describe this is males are wearing ties, blazers, and pants while females are wearing kilts, knee-highs, and skirts. Both males and females are wearing a version of a gender appropriate white dress shirt. This opens up the debate for this blog entry on whether you believe that students should be dressed in school uniforms while attending school. It definitely solves the problem of name brand clothing hassles and the peer pressure to fit in. My question to you are you in favour of a high school uniform for all students? Why or why not? Let the debate begin.

I dont really think that we should have to wear matching uniforms. It would suck to have to wear the same thing as everyone else, then you couldnt be yourself like make yourself because your not wearing what you want. I dont really think either that normal kids would want to wear those kind of clothes. I just think we should be able to wear what we want.
I think that it would be a hassle to have to wear the same clothes each day. It would also get really boring. Everyone should be able to wear what they want to school as long as it is appropriate. However, I do agree with the peer pressure to fit in with brand name clothing. In schools where this may be a problem for example if a school was to close in a poor neighbourhood and the children had to go to a school in a newer more expensive area it would be good idea to have uniforms so that the students aren’t seperated by what they have and don’t have.
I don’t like this idea at all. The way that we all look the same will probably lessen the ‘need’ for name brand clothing but will some people might feel more body concenious. This is because if the popular girl “queen bee” is a extra small and someone that is a little bigger boned is a medium, they might feel the need to be thinner. I also think that it be a pain in the butt because I can’t wear the sam thing more then once in a week, so having to wear the same thing over and over again is stupid. Also people wouldn’t be able to show there true colours, and wearing what they like, creating there own styles and wearing what they feel comfertable it. I like how schools are right now, because you have the right to wear what you want!
well i personally wouldnt care if this happened because i like to wear a dress shirt and tie!! for the girls sake it wouldnt be good at all!! but we wouldnt have the problem of who is wearing what!
I think in a way it would be good and bad. If we had to were school outfits people with less money who may be getting bullyied because their not wearing desinger clothes well they wouldnt get bothered. But the bad part is that like timbit #2 said is that for people who are bigger might feel out of place and not commfortable and excpecially in highschool wearing something your body isnt comfortable with would just not be right!
well, I don’t think we need to wear uniforms for school. Dressing the way you want makes you the person you are. How can you be your own person if everyone else in the school looks the same as you? Everyone would just be the same. I mean yeah it does take away from peer pressure and name brands but really it also takes away who you are and want to be. I think creating your outfit and getting all dazled up for school is the best part of the day because really its lots of fun picking out outfits that YOU like! But i think if we did decide with going with new uniforms for school, some people may move schools becuase they can’t look they way they want, but it might also cause an argument and students would not be happy at all!
In high school kids should not be forced to wear uniforms. I think this because we have the right to choose what we want to wear. Everyone has a different sence of style and feels comfortable in certain things. I also think it can be sexist. Girls might be made to wear skirts everyday and really what girl wants to wear a skirt all the time.?
